A 32-year-old widow was reportedly raped by her in-law in Gwantu, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Daily Trust reports.
The suspects whose names were given as Yaro Juham and Anthony Danjuma have been arrested and remanded to a Kaduna Central Prison by a Chief Magistrate Court on the charges of rape.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Aminu Lawan, who made this known to journalists, revealed that the suspects carried out the nefarious act on October 16, 2014. He confirmed that the first suspect, Yaro Juham, is a distant relation of the widow’s late husband.
“At about 2 a.m. of that day, the two suspects went into the house of the widow and forced themselves in,” Lawan said.
The force spokesman further disclosed that the suspects asked the widow to bring out all her valuables, but was only able to provide N850.00, which they collected, and brought out a knife which they allegedly used in cutting off her finger before raping her.
Lawan said the first suspect, Yaro Juham, had carnal knowledge with the woman and when he was done, the second suspect, Anthony Danjuma, also took his turn.
It was gathered that during the evil act, the 10-year-old son of the widow started hitting the suspect on the back, urging them to get off his mother, but they ignored the child and pushed him away.
Meanwhile, a woman identified as Aminat Akanni has been arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly abducting two of her stepchildren, Lateef, 7 and Nofisat, 4, before reportedly pushing the our-year-old Nofisat into a soak-away pit.
